Marissa Mayer, Yahoo’s New CEO, Redefines Women Power

Marissa Mayer Named CEO of Yahoo

The whole world appears to be talking about Marissa Mayer – Google’s “first 20” employee – who has been appointed as first ever female CEO of Yahoo

“I’m incredibly excited to start my new role at Yahoo! Tomorrow”, a very excited Marissa Mayer tweeted on Monday, July 16, 2012.

The whole world appears to be talking about Marissa Mayer – Google’s “first 20” employee – who has been appointed as first ever female CEO of Yahoo.

The success story of Marissa Mayer started 13 years ago when she joined Google in 1999 as employee number 20 and the first female engineer. During her tenure of 13 years with Google, she handled different responsibilities including engineer, designer, product manager, and executive.

Marissa Mayer also donned vital responsibilities in Google Images, Google Books, Google Search, Google, Google Toolbar, iGoogle, Google News, Product Search and Gmail. At Google media events, she acted as the primary spokesperson – an expressive and enthusiastic advocate for company’s newest offerings. She excelled in every role she played and kept climbing the success ladder with self-belief and confidence as her success secrets.

In her last stint with Google, she was working as the Vice President of Local, Maps, and Location Services. Mayer along with other “smarty-pants upstarts” was instrumental in taking the search engine Google miles ahead of the now-flagging Yahoo during the initial days of Internet. Now, she has the tough task ahead to avert same disaster once she has caused to Yahoo.

“Marissa is a well-known, visionary leader in user experience and product design and one of Silicon Valley’s most exciting strategists in technology development,” Yahoo co-founder David Filo said in a statement. “I look forward to working with her to enhance Yahoo’s product offerings for our over 700 million unique monthly visitors.”

Marissa Mayer, who is expecting her first child in October, is all set to accept the new challenge of being a mother. Though it appears challenging for somebody heading Yahoo, a role that has come packed with myriad and tough challenges, Marissa’s confidence and enthusiasm portrays that she will handle this responsibility with same dignity and care as she has handled her earlier responsibilities at Google.

We expect her to emerge as a role model for working women, who are afraid of raising families for the sake of their career and personal growth.

Major Achievements of Marissa Mayer

Perseverance Key to Success

Every person faces hurdles while making his way to success but one who perseveres and conquers them, emerges as the winner

Mayer was listed in Fortune magazine’s annual list of America’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 and was ranked 50, 44, 42 and 38, respectively. In 2008, at the age of 33, she became the youngest woman ever listed in the magazine.

According to Catalyst, she is only the 20th current female CEO of a Fortune 500 company. It makes her to join the elite club of most successful business women, which includes names like:

Meg Whitman – Meg Whitman is serving Hewlett-Packard Meg as the president and CEO.

Virginia Marie “Ginni” Rometty – Named to Fortune magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” continuously for seven years, she is the first woman to head IBM.

Patricia Ann Woertz – She was appointed as the CEO of Archer Daniels Midland in 2006. In 2010, she was ranked the 3rd most powerful woman by Fortune magazine.

All these women, who have achieved such an exceptional success in the field previously dominated by males, have redefined women strength, skills and will power. Their sheer determination and desire to excel can put those people to shame who still refer women as the “weaker sex”.

Key to Success – Perseverance and Positive Thinking

The success of Marissa Mayer highlights the significance of focus, positive thinking, and determination. You should be very focused on your goal. Once you find your path, you should move towards your ultimate goal with steely determination, discipline, hard word, and a “can do-will do” approach.

Every person faces hurdles while making his way to success but one who fights and conquers them, emerges as the winner. Struggles and difficulties are the eligibility tests for success. Only those who pass these tests deserve to be on the other side.

The Success Secret Of Meditation

Personal Success

The simple way of meditating will gradually still your mind and awaken attention in the Now, making you more aware of what is going on in the present moment

The practice of meditation is usually not considered to be a practical way to achieve success.

It has been taught for centuries as a means for spiritual growth and enlightenment.

But certain forms of meditation practice are among the best kept success secrets.

In fact, it can be accurately stated that there is no way to be as successful as you can be WITHOUT practicing meditation.

One kind of meditation practice that is really a form of success training is all about calming, focusing and AWAKENING the mind.

Practicing this form of meditation for personal success could not be simpler: Simply direct the focus of your attention to the present moment.

That’s really all there is to it.  Keep your attention PRESENT for as long as you can.

This simple way of meditating will gradually still your mind and awaken attention in the Now, making you more aware of what is going on in the present moment.

This heightened state of awareness can help you to succeed and prosper because whatever you are aware of you can increase your control over.

The more aware you are, the more control you have over the direction of your life.

As your mind clears and calms, you will find that you are able to communicate more effectively, problem-solve more easily and to feel less stressed out.

And you will delight in the restful and exhilarating experience of a more clear and alert state of awareness.

Take just 15 or 30 seconds to focus attention on your present moment experience several times a day to feel more rested, refreshed and inspired – you’ll be more productive when you get back to your work and you’ll have more energy when you return home from work.

You can practice this form of meditation for success while you are active and while you are inactive.

Reserving special periods during the day for inactive practice will bring about greater results most quickly.

Great times to engage in the success practice of this form of meditation is first thing in the morning, before you begin any other activity. Sit or lie down and keep attention focused on your present moment experience for at least a minute.

Another excellent time for meditating in this way is while you are lying in bed at night, waiting for sleep to descend.  As you head into your dreams, you will be advancing along the road to success.

But don’t wait for special periods to practice.  Do it anytime, including while you are driving, waiting on line, standing in the elevator, eating, or playing with your kids.

The more you practice the success secret of meditation the more buoyant your daily spirit will be and the more quickly and easily you will achieve the success that you desire.

Judy Garland – Wisdom of Handling Success Is Just As Important As Success Itself

Judy Garland

Judy Garland will be remembered for her accomplishments and the smiles that she brought on the faces of her fans. Photo Courtesy: wikipedia.org

Judy Garland, the name still evokes emotions in her fans, admirers and all those who have battled the odds to emerge victorious. She is a shining example of those who refused to succumb to insecurities and crippling problems and reached a level where they became an inspiration for others.

Judy Garland, who would have turned 90 years old this month, was remembered this week in Tony Awards 2012. Tracie Bennett, who portrayed Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow, presented a pre-show ritual for the show Just in Time as Judy Garland.

Talking about her performance, she told zap2it, “To go on, I put the shoes on, I put the engagement ring on, then the scarf and the hat. By the time the coat is on, I am finally confident that I am going into Judy.”

Judy Garland’s life was full of ups and downs. Despite battling insecurity about her appearance, financial instability, and alcohol and drug addiction, she continued to perform and rule the hearts of her hundreds of thousands followers through a career that spanned 45 of her 47 years as a musician, actress, recording artist, and live performer in concerts.

Appreciated for her versatility, she was a recipient of a Juvenile Academy Award, the Golden Globe Award, Grammy Awards, and a Special Tony Award. Judy Garland will be remembered for her accomplishments and the smiles that she brought on the faces of her fans.

The singer and actor who reached an outstanding career peak at a young age (“at 39 years of age, she remains the youngest recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in the motion picture industry”) has always been inspired the youth and will continue to motivate aspirants who find it hard to regain their self confidence and positive thinking after initial failures.

Goal Achievement Comes From The Desire to Achieve Success

Never let failure or defeatism overcome your desire to achieve success.

Her tumultuous personal life which was plagued by drug abuse, financial troubles and failed marriages (she died at the age of 47 from an accidental drug overdose) remains a glaring example of how success, if not handled with wisdom, maturity and levelheadedness can lead to a premature, tragic end.

Success never comes easy. The road to success is covered with hard work, heart breaks, sometimes failures, and bitterness but there is always a way out. When a series of struggles deters your personal growth, it is the wisdom for success that drives you toward the actual success and goal achievement.

Never let failure or defeatism overcome your desire to achieve success. Fuel your desire with hard work and determination and keep moving toward your dreams and goals. The goal may appear distant but is accessible.

Worrying and feeling discouraged about your future will not help you one bit.

Positive Thinking

The more clearly and consistently you focus on your goal, and the more effective your action, the more quickly you can succeed.

They certainly are not what we can call “steps to success”!

On the contrary, they distract one’s focus and they drain one’s power, hindering successful action.

So why do people slip into worry and discouragement?

The answer is quite simple: HABIT.

Indulging in feelings of discouragement and insecurity is habitual.

And that habitual pattern may be all that prevents you from successful goal setting and goal accomplishment.

To be successful, one must take goal-directed action.

The more clearly and consistently you focus on your goal, and the more effective your action, the more quickly you can succeed.

But indulging worry and discouragement robs one of power, and less power translates into a more distracted and diffuse focus and weaker, less impactful action.

Understanding that worry and discouragement ARE habitual, and that they DON’T work, is a major step in gaining freedom to achieve your goals and objectives.

To gain that understanding, practice being more conscious of your present attitude.

You will soon recognize that the cause of a negative attitude is not one’s circumstances, but one’s pre-programmed habitual emotional reaction pattern.

Once you see this you have taken the first of 3 powerful steps for success.

The next step is to practice living in a state of peaceful confidence and contentment, particularly when you feel the urge to indulge in feelings of discouragement or insecurity.

Every moment you resist the urge to dwell in a negative emotional state you weaken the habit and strengthen your self-control.

Step three on the road to success is to get engaged in constructive work aimed at accomplishing your most important objective.

Every action you take for what you want builds up a momentum of actively working for it.  This makes it easier for you to continue working, and to work with more focus and power.

You can always take some form and degree of action in line with what you want to accomplish.

Following these 3 steps will bring success and free you from unhappy stress.

Personal Development

They remain fully motivated and engaged in goal achievement as they relentlessly seek out new and better ways to be successful.

Some individuals seem to be born “hard wired” for success.

Others need to “program” themselves to succeed with a success strategy that carries them to the “top.”

Either way, the quality “personal success programming” can be gauged by how we handle success.

However well truly successful people might be doing, they remain dedicated to maintaining and even raising their level of accomplishment.

Even while they enjoy the fruits of their labor, they avoid over-indulging, to protect their abilities and drive from a decline.

They remain fully motivated and engaged in goal achievement as they relentlessly seek out new and better ways to be successful.

They access unstoppable power by maintaining good work habits no matter how much financial abundance they manifest.

They remain committed to their ongoing personal development.

A good many of these “success types” have passed through the fires of business failure as well.

But they overcame those bouts with personal defeat by responding pretty much the way they respond to achieving their highest business goals: they maintain their success mindset by maintaining their focus on achieving.

It’s not uncommon for very successful individuals to encounter a profound sense of inner emptiness at some point along the way.

This happens when they have lost their balance by becoming so focused on goal achievement that they overlooked their need to love the journey.

Those who emerge from this “spiritual abyss” learn that working effectively does not require the sacrifice of the joy of living.

They come to realize that they can be successful by maintaining their balance, remaining aware in the present, and honoring their inner, spiritual need for a sense of real meaning in the now.

Whatever your situation in life, you too can be as successful as you want to be, AND fulfilled, by following their BALANCED success strategy.

Setting a goal and visualizing success are key for directing your life

You need to have a dream to experience the great glory of a great dream-come-true.

Setting a goal and visualizing success are key for directing your life.

But goal setting and going for a goal with all your might do not insure that you will achieve that goal by the time you hoped it would happen.

Some individuals look back over their lives with a great sense of pride and satisfaction at having achieved, and even far surpassed, all of their greatest vision of success.

Others look back, however, feeling deeply disappointed at not having achieved goals that they worked long and hard to reach.

It’s tempting to lose self-respect when that happens and to slide into a failure-mentality in which fear and futility lure us into giving up on our dedication to create a more beautiful life.

Yet it is imperative to remember the success-wisdom principle that states: “In all situations, including those involving the gravest losses, an opportunity of the highest order is ALWAYS presented to us.”

One such opportunity is to develop will-power.

It may, in fact, be nothing but a matter of the strength of one’s will that determines the failure or success of goal attainment.

By sticking at the effort to create a totally fulfilling life, despite the temptation to give into the feeling of disappointment, you strengthen your will to succeed.

This weakens the negative influence of feeling disappointed to liberate more power to make your life a glorious dream-come-true adventure.

Negative Thinking Manifests Negative Conditions

The financial problems, health problems, career problems, and relationship problems that you encounter today can be traced back to negative thinking that you consciously or unconsciously engaged in in your past.

Your life is a manifestation process directed your thoughts and feelings.

Of course you need to take physical action to manifest your goals, but your actions are products of your thoughts and feelings as well.

If you do not think about what you want to accomplish, and if you do not feel motivated accomplish it, you will not take the action necessary to accomplish your goal.

Your thoughts produce the physical conditions that match them.

Your feelings attract the thoughts you think, and they also manifest physical conditions that are consistent with them.

When you are feeling deprived, unfortunate, or lacking in any way, you generate or perpetuate the material conditions that help you to feel that way.

When you think of your life in any way that you do not want your life to be, you set physical forces into motion that produce that unhappy destiny.

There is no more important form of self-work to engage in than the practice of directing conscious attention to whatever you are thinking and feeling.

The financial problems, health problems, career problems, and relationship problems that you encounter today can be traced back to negative thinking that you consciously or unconsciously engaged in in your past.

Whatever seems to be going wrong in your life also reflects your past negative attitudes, imbalanced desires and negative emotional states.

To manifest success, use positive thinking by envisioning success.  Practice living in feelings of faith, trust, confidence, appreciation and gratitude.

Work everyday, all day, at being consciously aware of every thought that crosses your mind and of every feeling that flows through you.

When you are feeling anxious, unhappy, or frustrated go through that feeling without resistance, as consciously as you can.

As you become more conscious of your thoughts and feelings you will see more and more clearly how they manifest your destiny, and how to and more more effectively direct your life through positive thought, a great attitude and beautiful feelings.

This will turn your life into a marvelous adventure in manifesting miraculous success.

creative visualization to achieve goals

Every individual has a “true calling” that defines a truly purposeful life for that individual. It defines what you are truly “meant” to do with your life.

We are advised by teachers of the way to success to mentally visualize the results we desire in order to manifest those results in life.

The power of creative visualization to direct events has to do with the fact that the currents of life are ruled by mind power.

In other words, the form or content of your thought determines the conditions of your life.

But there is an important element of the wisdom of success that needs to be honored here, though it is not often discussed in personal development circles.

And it is because this essential element of a true success strategy is left out that many who use the mind power of creative visualization to achieve goals often give up, feeling disappointed and distrustful.

This overlooked element has to do with the unstoppable power of your primary intention for a meaningful life.  This is something you need to discover deep within.  It is not something you can fabricate.

Every individual has a “true calling” that defines a truly purposeful life for that individual.  It defines what you are truly “meant” to do with your life.

While it is nice to visualize health, to think about wealth, to affirm success in this or that endeavor, you generate opposition to your will if you attempt to make anything but your deepest will or ultimate intention your primary focus.

The common reason we make this self-sabotaging mistake is out of fear.  We fear that we must take care of this or that responsibility in our lives BEFORE seeking a life of true meaning.

But at best this results in meaningless success that increases depression as we rise higher in our goal-achievement.

When you connect your consciousness with your deepest sense of a truly meaningful life, and free your mind from negative thinking and self-doubt, you overcome fear and really cannot fail.

To pursue the path of your deepest intention is to live out your heroic potential.

If you have been working on manifesting prosperity, for instance, and still find yourself dealing with frustrating financial constraints, there is no doubt something you want to do with your life that is of higher importance to you.

Stop worrying about money and concentrate on getting connected with your deeper purpose or your higher calling, your feeling or vision of a life of true meaning.

TRUSTING that path of success will attract all the money, and whatever else you need.

More powerful than the power of creative visualization, positive thinking, and verbal affirmation is the energy of your deepest intent.

What are some conditions in your life that YOU have been pursuing, without achieving success?

Would you like free success guidance for getting in touch with your deepest intention?

How To Build Self Confidence

The beginning of a new year is a great time to create a personal growth, self-help action plan for self-improvement, aimed at the goals you want to accomplish.

For a year of greater success, make personal growth, self-help changes.

To raise your level of accomplishment, raise your level of ability.  That is how to become more successful.

If we operate in the same old way, we are bound for the same old results.

By developing the kinds of personal growth that will help you to succeed at a higher level, you employ the age-old self-help wisdom for success that leads to higher accomplishment.

Working on personal growth and development for success is not merely positive thinking.

But working on losing negative thinking habits and replacing them with a more positive mindset is probably one form of personal development that will help you to succeed.

It’s too easy to slip into the self-defeating mindset that our circumstances or other people impose a ceiling of success upon us. This saps us of motivation.

By accepting responsibility for our results, we also accept
our power to improve upon our results.

The beginning of a new year is a great time to create a personal growth, self-help action plan for self-improvement, aimed at the goals you want to accomplish.

New Year’s Resolutions Action Plan:

  1. Begin by employing the power of positive thinking by listing your goals for the year.  (Your list might include how much money you want to make, the projects you want to complete, the number of clients you want in your “corral”, places you want to visit, a new employment situation, a new home.)

  1. Now use that list to form your new years resolutions for self-help self-growth by thinking about the abilities you feel inspired develop, the knowledge you feel inspired to expand, that can help you to achieve those goals.

For instance, one of my goals is to reach more people with my wisdom-writing, and for my writing to impact the people I reach in a more positive, powerful way.

To achieve this goal, I feel inspired to develop my writing ability, for my writing to enlighten and inspire in more beautiful forms.

One mistake people make when it comes to this self-help personal growth work is to try to force themselves to develop abilities that do not inspire them.

There are countless ways that you can improve for better results.  By working on improving in ways that inspire you, you live with more inspiration, which empowers you in and of itself for greater success.

In this blog please feel more than welcome to share some of the ways that you want to advance your personal growth for a year of greater success.  That may help your fellow bloggers to identify ways that they want to pursue self-improvement for success.

    personal success

Trust that within you is the power to make your dreams come true, however gigantic those dreams might be. Imagine that you ARE that power

Within you exists the power to produce all of the personal success that you desire.

You may not believe that, but there actually IS a way to discover that you are that powerful.

For the next seven days, read the following daily.  They are inspirational quotes that can help you realize your great power.

    • “When you doubt that you have the power to succeed, when you worry that you may lack the power, simply do your best to experience the feeling, the attitude of trust that you ARE that power.”
    • “Several times a day, and particularly any time that you even begin to feel worried or discouraged about your possibilities, affirm to yourself, silently, over and over and over again, ‘I have all the power I need within me to achieve all that I desire. I trust I am destined for success.’”
    • Practice living in the feeling, in the attitude of trust that you really have nothing to fear.  Trust that within you is the power to make your dreams come true, however gigantic those dreams might be. Imagine that you ARE that power.”

By reviewing and applying them daily, these inspirational quotes can work magic on your mind, releasing you of the one thing capable of holding back your personal success: your fear, doubt, or worry that it may not or will not happen.

If you have a habitual tendency to worry, to feel insecure, then all day long, exercise and thereby strengthen, your trust or faith in your power to produce any and all the results that you desire.

As you actually work on this, you will find yourself increasingly free of anxiety, and increasingly filled with inner peace, joy and love.

Would you like me to share more powerful ways to develop the trust that frees you from pointless fear?Just let me know by including your request in this blog.

Would you like me to share my own personal story of how I found the wisdom of fearless mind? I’d be happy to share that with you.  Just ask me, in this blog.

Worry is a waste of energy that costs us joy.  It also costs us personal success, because trust, or faith, in our power releases all the energy needed to produce the outcomes we desire.
