Success Secrets through Positive Thinking

You really can simply start thinking positively and your life will start changing for the better. We've all heard the story of the little engine that could..."I think I can...I think I can. Or at least it "thinks it can."

The Little Engine’s Success Secrets

A little railroad engine was working at a station yard pulling a few train cars on and off the switches. One morning it was waiting for the next job when a long train of freight-cars asked a large engine to take it over the hill "I can't; that is too much a pull for me," said the great engine built for larger work. Then the train asked another engine, and another, only to hear excuses and refusal. In desperation, the train asked the little engine to pull it up the hill and down the other side. "I think I can," puffed the little locomotive, and put itself in front of the great train of cars. As it went on the little engine kept bravely puffing faster and faster, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can." As it neared the top of the hill, which had so discouraged the larger engines, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, "I--think--I--can, I--think--I--can." It reached the top by drawing on positive thinking and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, "I knew I could, I knew I could." The little engine’s attitude exemplifies, The power of positive thinking.

What was the little engine’s success secret?

The little engine used the power of positive thinking. He knew something some people never learn...you have the ability to influence your personal development through your thoughts and actions. The law of gravity suggests that the little train engine was too small to push the larger freight cars over the hill but through bravery and a can-do attitude, the little engine defied the law.

The little engine practiced a positive attitude and was successful. You can be successful through positive thinking too.

"Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success."
Dr. Joyce Brothers

Four Ways to Mark Your Positive Attitude
  • Make positive comments.
  • Ask positive questions.
  • Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts.
  • Keep a list of your thoughts, goals and actions.

Remember, Positive thinking isn’t a one-time-thing; it is a way of life.

Positive Thinking is the Success Secret. It is important to make the connection between the importance of your attitude and your personal development. It impacts every aspect of your life: school success, business success and relationship success. Having a positive attitude is directly related to positive relationships. When your attitude is negative, you lose your ability to communicate, to be loving and to be successful.

"Believe you can and you're half way there."
Theodore Roosevelt

How does a negative attitude impact your ability to communicate?

Do you become cynical? Do you deny your own abilities?

By practicing a positive attitude, you will start to see that by changing your negative thoughts into more optimistic thoughts you will gain power. Because you think happy thoughts, you send out happy messages. You choose to think "what can go right," versus "what can go wrong."

Follow the little engine that could. Believe in your own power to be happy through positive thinking and a can-do attitude.
You can do it!
